The Q9 comes with Audi’s latest and most advanced gasoline engine, a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that produces 429 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough power for the Q9, despite its considerable size, to get from 0 to 60 in just 4.9 seconds, a number that was only achievable by sports cars not that long ago. The engine is mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic® transmission that is robust enough to give the Q9 an impressive towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. As befits an Audi flagship, quattro® all-wheel drive comes standard, as does adaptive air suspension, and the combination makes for exceptional ride comfort and traction in all sorts of conditions. And when it’s time to stop, the massive 15.7-inch brake rotors and six-piston fixed calipers make quick work of it.

While there are others, the main difference between the Q9 and the former flagship model, the Q7, is size. The Q9 has the most interior space of any Audi model, the biggest panoramic sunroof ever fitted to any Audi model, and a cavernous 87.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. To go with all of this space, the Q9 comes with standard leather upholstery, with upgraded Nappa leather available. The Q9 also has available power doors, which can be opened via the door handles, buttons, the MMI touchscreen, or smartphone app. The climate control system has an available five-zone configuration to keep everyone comfortable, and the Q9 is one of the only three-row SUVs to offer heated seats for all three rows. An impressive Bang & Olufsen® stereo comes standard and can be made even more impressive with the available headrest speakers and “seat beat” feature. And when you don’t want to listen to music, dual-pane acoustic windows keep the interior remarkably quiet.
