Audi TT History

History of the Audi TT

Originally developed in 1994 by a team of German and American designers, the Audi TT concept was first unveiled in 1995. Production for coupes began in 1998 with the roadster launching the following year in 1999. The name "TT" is derived from the British Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) motorcycle race. NSU, a motorcycle company that eventually merged into the group known today as Audi, enjoyed unparalleled success in this event.

Praised for its design, the public was amazed at how Audi had preserved much of the concept vehicle's silhouette and character lines upon the debut on the production variant. Throughout the years, the TT spawned performance variants including the TTS and TT RS. Baseball-stitched leather seats shown on the concept vehicle and original 1998 models return for the TT 20th Anniversary Edition. Sadly, this will be your last opportunity to experience the remarkable Audi TT.
